Levels 2.0 and 3.0
These levels are for those who have completed at least one year of study at our course or have successfully completed Levels 3 or 4 in our individual programs . The main focus here is working with other persons. You will learn how to question people, choose strategies to work with them, and interpret their behavior. You will continue to develop skills of questioning, argumentation, and interpretation. You will learn to correct written homework of other students and assess their consultations. You will as well deepen your understanding of theoretical backgrounds of philosophical practice.
More details
the COURSE lasts 1 ACADEMIC YEAR
FROM THE beginning of OCTOBER 2021 TO THE END OF MAY 2022
PROGRAM
development of 5 basic thinking skills
ARGUMENTATION
Capacity to justify your ideas, examine other people's thinking process. You can have a brilliant idea about something, but without an argument it is difficult to justify it. Argumentation teaches you to see cause-and-effect relationships and communicate your thoughts to other people.
INTERPRETATION
Seeing different meanings behind someone's words, being able to view a situation or a person from multiple angles, looking at a problem from different levels and naming it, finding creative ways of understanding a text.
QUESTIONING
Asking clear and precise questions. Recognizing problems in questions, knowing different types of questions. Turning your idea into a question that will be directed at what you want is an art. Someone who knows how to ask questions is a master of dialogue.
CONCEPTUALISATION
Naming a phenomenon or a behavior pattern. Extracting the substance from a text. This skill allows you to clarify speech, highlight the essence, and structure your thoughts.
PROBLEMATISATION
Any statement or a question has limits of application. To see these boundaries is to be aware of an idea. The better the ability to problematize is, the higher creativity is. This implies to learn how to formulate objections and questions.
+ SELF-AWARENESS
Understanding yourself and others better. Our reactions to someone's words or attitude manifest our worldview. The ability to interpret them allows you to understand yourself better: how you think, why you think this way, and what the limits of your way of thinking are.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
STRUCTURE OF THE COURSE
Every month: one educational module. Each module consists of:

- 1 weekend seminar. Saturday and Sunday (6 hours each day). This weekend seminar is led by Oscar Brenifier and other philosophy practitioners.

- 2 weekly lessons with exercises, to do within 3 days.

- 1 or 2 written tasks. 1 week is given to complete them.

- 1 block of philosophical consultations. Each student will record 1 consultation as a philosopher and 1 as a "client". This concerns 2nd and 3rd years.
1
WEEKLY CLASSES
During the whole year there will be weekly Zoom workshops.

They last 2 hours. Students will attend at least 1 workshop per week. One session will take place on a weekday evening, another one on the weekend.

Time is yet to be determined.

These sessions take place every week except for the mini-marathon and seminar weeks.

2
WORKSHOPS FORMAT

During workshops, we will work on various exercises. The main task is to develop thinking skills, train to identify and explore each other's thinking systems, and increase the degree of self-awareness.

The work is structured in a dialogue format: the art of questioning will always remain in the center of every session.
3
PLATFORMS
Workshops and seminars are held on Zoom.
Once (and if) the pandemic is over, we might offer some offline seminars.

All written exercises and homeworks are kept on GetCourse platform.

This Philosophical Counseling and Practice course is NOT just a training program, it is a LIFESTYLE.

SCHEDULE

Will be updated soon

Important
We do not have a fixed schedule of what we do during the workshops and seminars. There is no determined program in advance, as we prefer to go with the flow and base ourselves on what takes place with participants.

This is what allows us to evolve over the years. It as well better resembles how life is: unpredictable and surprising.

The work is quite intense, there is a lot of homework. However, you can complete tasks at your own pace with additional personal feedback from tutors. Or not do homework at all. It all depends on your priorities.

PRINCIPLES OF THE COURSE
1
Process orientation
Thinking is an art that requires constant practice. This is a path that has no end. It is impossible to get the final "knowledge" that will end this path.

On the course, we practice thinking, instead of gaining knowledge about it. The course does not give a guaranteed result, it is a process of enjoying thinking and questioning.
2
No grades
There is no single authority on the course. You are both a teacher and a student. Evaluation is a convention.
Your ability to learn is important: to hear criticism, understand it, and apply it. You will receive a lot of feedback and try to rate other's work. The course lacks the familiar "right / wrong" reference.
3
Minimum of theory
The knowledge gained through practice is assimilated much better. There is no theory that could replace the experience of working on oneself. Such an experience will be clear, "alive", and most importantly applicable in life. There are no made algorithms on the course and you should not expect an abundance of methodological comments, but be prepared for a maximum of practice. We will teach you how to fish instead of giving you fish.
4
No long speeches
The way we think affects our speech and, in reverse, our speech reveals how we think. "Language is the house of being," Heidegger wrote. Therefore, in order to work with thinking, we need concise and clear answers. In the course, the facilitators will often interrupt your speech and will teach you to stop other's speeches. We prefer content to eloquence.
5
Capacity to challenge
Thinking loves challenge and dislikes routine and habit. To think the unthinkable, you need to take risks and go into the unknown. Courage, curiosity and love of ideas are essential for this. To be able to challenge others, you need to be able to challenge yourself. This program is for those who can stand to this challenge.
6
Work on yourself
"Are you greedy?" or "Are you often stubborn?" Such questions might hurt or even insult someone. But they will be meet very often in the course. The purpose of these questions is to increase a person's self-awareness. The other is a mirror, and even if we don't like the reflection, that doesn't make it any less real. The quality of our thinking work depends directly on how self-aware we are. An important part of the work is devoted to this in the course.
